2022 Danny Hall Memorial Scholarship Winner
The winners of the 2022 Danny Hall Memorial scholarship are Susannah Cookson and Jude Seibert.
Susannah is 19 years old, plays viola.
Susannah comes from a musical family and plays piano for her church and in the community. She wants to further her musical studies and perform in orchestras and ensembles.
Jude is 15 years old, studies cello.
Jude plays cello in his church orchestra and enjoys classical as well as contemporary music. He not only loves playing music, but also listens to music while he works on projects such as 3D printing.

2021 Huntsville Music Study Club Scholarship Competition
Valley Conservatory Students sweep Huntsville Music Study Club scholarship competition
Congratulations are in order to Abigail H., Garrett/Miller Piano Scholarship;
Joshua B., Di Cerbo Scholarship; Chase R., Winifred Cetnarowski Scholarship; and Alyssa S., WFWC du Midi Woman's Club Scholarship, for winning the Huntsville Music Study Club Annual Scholarship Competition. Students were required to perform pieces of contrasting style from standard repertoire and voice students were required to sing at least one piece in French, German or Italian. Each student received a $400 scholarship.
This is the first time in the history of the Huntsville Music Study Club scholarship competition that a studio has had students sweep the competition by having a winner in all four categories! We are very proud of our students for their fine performance. The judges of the competition stated how well our students performed in addition to their concert etiquette, presentation, and dress. At Valley Conservatory our mission is "Developing Better People Through the Medium of Music." This is a true testament to the excellent training our students receive at Valley Conservatory. Kudos to these wonderful students and their teachers for a job well done!

VC Student Places 2ND in Omega Psi Phi Inc. Talent Hunt Virtual Competition
Joshua competed on the state level of the Alabama 2021 Omega Psi Phi Virtual Talent Hunt competition on March 23, 2021. He was one of three representatives from the local Omega Psi Phi, Inc. chapters, and placed 2nd winning a scholarship prize of $500. He played Brahms Sonata No. 1 in e minor, for Cello and Piano.
As 2nd place winner on the state level, Joshua was able to compete on the district level which included students representing the state of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi. In competing on this level, he received a scholarship of $200. Joshua has been a student at the VC for 5 years where he studies cello with Kevin Lay. Kudos to Joshua for a job well done! |
2021 Danny Hall Memorial Scholarship
Congratulations to Anna Katherine Spangler and Isaac Gentle for being the winners of the Danny Hall Memorial Scholarship.
Anna Katherine competed for the scholarship on the viola and is in 9th grade. She plays in the Huntsville Youth Orchestra where she is a member of the Sinfonia Orchestra and has participated in several master classes and workshops on the viola. In addition to her musical experiences, she volunteers at the Madison County Library and Botanical Gardens and is a team member of the Merino Trampoline Gymnastics Academy.
Isaac is also in 9th grade and competed for the scholarship on the guitar. Some of his activities include various productions with the Fantasy Playhouse, former member of Stars and Clowns of the Academy for Academics and Arts and is a member of the
Tri-M Music Honor Society.
Kudos to both of our scholarship recipients for a job well done!

2020 Danny Hall Memorial Scholarship
Congratulations to Katie Lee for being the winner of the Danny Hall Memorial Scholarship. Katie competed for the scholarship on the viola and is a 6th grade homeschool student. In addition to the viola, her musical experiences include piano, ukulele and singing. She is a member of the Huntsville Children’s Chorale and the Decatur Youth Orchestra. Katie is also involved in scouting, is a member of the American Heritage Girls and has taught ukulele as a summer volunteer at the Triana Library.
The Judges for the competition were Kathy Fisher, Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation (MDMEF) board member and scholarship chair, and Dr. Renee Collins, Founding Director of Valley Conservatory. The scholarship was suggested by Microwave Dave Gallaher to honor Danny Hall, esteemed Huntsville musician who passed away last year. The first recipient of the scholarship was Jonah Hall, Danny’s son. The scholarship is sponsored by the MDMEF and consists of one year of lessons at Valley Conservatory, who is a partner in the project. |
Dr. Renee Collins, Katie Lee and Kathy Fisher
